Richard B. Cheney, an accomplished businessman and public servant is the vice president. Cheney known as a popular figure in Washington politics, has served under four presidents in the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush picked Cheney on July 20, 2000 to be his vice-presidential running mate noting Cheney's judgment and insight. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president, was a member of Congress as well as secretary of defence. Republicans and Democrats alike respect his honesty. Cheney says he is an honest and discreet adviser for Bush during his presidency. Cheney said that when he decided to accept the Republican nomination for vice president Cheney was looking forward to being a part of a president who would work across the political aisle to achieve goals and will collaborate with opponents with trust and respect. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on the 30th of January, 1941 in Lincoln Nebraska. He moved into Casper, Wyoming with his family at the age of 13. His father, who worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture was the director of the conservation district located in Casper.
